LANSING, Mich. – State Sen. Ed McBroom and Rep. Greg Markkanen are hosting a townhall meeting to discuss
issues affecting Gogebic County residents on Friday, Feb. 8.
The event will be held at 6 p.m. at the Bessemer City Hall Auditorium, located at 411 South Sophie St. in
Bessemer.
“I look forward to meeting with Gogebic area families for an in-depth discussion on issues affecting their lives,”
said McBroom, R-Vulcan. “The Gogebic community faces many new challenges after the closure of the Ojibway
Correctional Facility last year that I am eager to talk about, in addition to other issues, including the economy,
auto insurance, mental health and public service needs, property access concerns, and any other state issues on
residents’ minds.”
Rep. Markkanen is looking forward to meeting the residents of Gogebic County.
“There are many critical issues that need to be addressed in Gogebic County,” said Markkanen, R-Hancock. “My
intent is to listen, to better understand the concerns of my constituents, and to work closely with Senator
McBroom to find solutions that enhance the lives of the hard-working people of Gogebic County.”
The townhall will cap a day full of meetings McBroom has scheduled in Gogebic County with elected officials,
business owners, local leaders and other members of the community.
